Michael Toner Critically Injured

Our dear friend Michael Toner, long-time Irish Edition contributor and stage actor, was critically injured by a hit-and-run driver about 1 a.m. on June 9 near 11th and Market Streets. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital where his left leg was amputated.

Michael Toner has written reviews, interviews and features in the Irish Edition on major Irish and Irish-American literary figures for the past 30 years. He has been featured and reviewed in the Irish Edition for his many performances in the Philadelphia area theater, primarily for his roles in Irish-themed plays.

He served in the U.S. Army Infantry in Vietnam, which was the basis of some of his most memorable writings that were published in the Irish Edition.
