Commodore John Barry 250 Mile Solo Run From Manhattan to Annapolis

Tom McGrath, a world-renowned long distance endurance runner and a Hibernian has agreed to run from Midtown Manhattan to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland to raise funds and awareness for the proposed Monument to Commodore John Barry at The Barry Gate of the Naval Academy. The Commodore John Barry 250 Mile Run is being organized by The Ancient Order of Hibernians at national, state, county and division levels.

With your help we can make the Commodore John Barry 250 mile solo run from NYC to Annapolis a huge success. Come out and run a few miles with Tom McGrath; buy a T-shirt with the run’s logo in all sizes from small to 4x for $15; or just come and greet the runner at one of the AOH Division Halls where Tom will be stopping along the run.

He will be in the AOH Msgr. Crean Div.1 in Hamilton, NJ on Saturday, July 21 for a reception/fundraiser from 6 p.m. and continue to AOH Div.1 Hall in Bristol around noon on Sunday for a short stop and then on to Div. 39 Philadelphia for a fundraiser/reception on Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.

He will then leave Philadelphia on Monday morning and stop in the K. of C. Hall, home of AOH Division 1 in West Chester, PA, for another fundraiser/reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday evening.

We are asking that you stop by one of these venues to support our runner, Tom McGrath, and to help raise funds for this very worthwhile cause.

You can run with Tom, from Msgr. Crean to Bristol, from Bristol to Div. 39, from 39 to West Chester; or just run a few miles at your own pleasure to sponsor him or yourself for $5 a mile; or you or your organization can sponsor the whole 250 miles for $250 and have your name or organizations name put up on the website, www.barryrun.com  and in the book which will be published when the project is finished.

We would like all Irish Amer-ican people and organizations to be involved in this worthwhile project to give one of our own, Commodore John Barry, a Wexford native and Father of the American Navy, his due and just rewards by honoring him with this monument in the Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD.

All proceeds are tax deductible and all checks should be made out to the Hibernian Charity Barry Project and sent to Barry Project c/o Frank Kearney, PO Box 391, Meriden, CT 06450.
